Frequently Asked Questions

Is it suitable for children?

Yes! If you bring your child please be prepared to supervise them. We always aim to have some child friendly activities happening at our open nights.

Is it suitable for adults?

Absolutely! It's not a youth club.

Yeah, what happened to the Youth Club anyway?

It's on a Wednesday night now, for ages 10-14, and it's run by MYLO (Mobile Youth Led Opportunities). It uses the Heritage Centre too.

How much does the Makerspace cost?

Open events are free; however, if you take part in an activity that uses consumables you may be asked for a donation to cover our costs. Details of membership fees are here: Basically you pay what you think is appropriate on a monthly basis.

Who pays for all of this?

So far, most equipment and materials have been donated by Nigel, Kate and Dave.

Can I donate some equipment/shelves/workbench?

We'd love that! Take a look at our 'stuff we need' page, or get in touch and tell us what you'd like to donate. For reasons of space, we might not always say yes, so do please ask first rather than just bringing stuff along.

Can I donate some money?

Sort of. You can support us financially by joining, and you can donate when you attend an open night to cover the cost of materials and tea/coffee etc.

So are you a charity?

No, we're a non profit company.
